A B2B 3D printing specialist with big ecommerce ambitions

Additive-X is a full-service B2B reseller for 3D printers, providing online product sales, in-house printing, team training, and technical support across the UK. With a growing product catalogue and an increasingly competitive market, scaling ecommerce revenue was central to their growth strategy.

They’d already seen strong results. Under our full-service ecommerce marketing and web support strategy, online sales grew 132% from 2023 to 2024. But we wanted to go further – and we did.

Key growth blockers standing in the way

Before we could push for ecommerce growth, we needed to identify and remove what was holding the site back. Three core problems emerged.

Slow page load speeds

Pages were loading too slowly, directly harming conversion rate and search engine rankings.

Clunky user experience

The site had been improved in places but lacked consistency, leading to friction across the purchase journey.

Missing SEO opportunities

Key product categories were only accessible via filters, leaving valuable search terms unranked and unindexed.

Reach £3M in online turnover by end of year

The Goal

We set a clear, revenue-focused target and built a strategy around the three core problems. The result£3.3M in turnover - and still growing.

How we drove 60% ecommerce revenue growth

2. UX review & conversion rate optimisation

As an ecommerce growth agency, improving conversion rate was central to everything we did. A systematic UX review across the site identified friction at every stage – from category browsing to checkout intent. Fixing these pushed the site’s conversion rate up by 32% year on year.

  • Delivery estimates per product
  • Improved category filters
  • Above-the-fold CTA optimisation
  • Product page redesign
  • Cleaner product comparisons
  • Upsells to increase AOV
  • Reduced clicks away from product pages

“Reseller event last night in Germany, we were held up as a great example of a website. They put the image up on screen. I was very happy — THANK YOU THANK YOU MATT, THIS WAS ALL YOU!!!”

1. Server migration & page speed optimisation

To improve the website conversion rate, we needed to address load speed. The existing server was reaching end of life for support, so we arranged a full migration to a dedicated Fasthosts server – completed within 14 days, from new server creation to live launch.

Average full page load time dropped to 2.5 seconds, unlocking faster indexing and a smoother buyer experience.

“Honestly, you guys 10/10 for that. Slick. Brilliant communication from Tom and Jacob… and now my site is faster. I am HAPPY and IMPRESSED.”

4. Full-channel digital marketing

Additional traffic was driven by optimising the existing marketing channels built by our team over previous years, spanning SEO, PPC, social media, email marketing, lead generation, and printed materials.

3. Ecommerce SEO & key term optimisation

Additive-X were missing the opportunity to rank for high-value product search terms. Key product types were only accessible via filters – meaning Google couldn’t crawl or rank them effectively.

We built an automated category integration that generated new, focused landing pages based on smart rules. Products are now automatically assigned to the correct category, reducing manual workload and dramatically expanding the site’s rankable surface area.

  • Automated category integration
  • Mass content generation
  • Existing category content rework
